eco-ideas.net twitter.com India has nearly 175 million cows, which are used for farming and transportation. Dried cow dung mixed with straw is used as a natural fuel in many rural areas, particularly where collection of firewood has led to deforestation. However, dung fuel burns inefficiently, emitting much smoke, which causes health problems. The Indian government is promoting the production of biogas from dung as a more eco-friendly, efficient and healthy method of providing natural energy, which can also be used for electric power generation.
