The strengthening of the South African rand against the US dollar between July 1 last year and June 30 this year, lopped a whopping R10,5-billion off JSE-listed Sasol’s operating profit. However, the group remains unconvinced that intervention by the monetary authorities would necessarily yield a more competitive unit.
