Significant Facts about Computer Recycling

Electronic devices, which have evoked communication revolution and profoundly changed almost every aspect of our life, have simultaneously posed as one of the most threatening factors for local as well as global environment. Since inception, electronic gadgets have been tremendously overused and people seldom cared about it consequences on environment as well as human health.
Multitude of equipments, a computer is made of, contain more than 1000 hazardous substances and chemicals including brominated flame retardants, heavy metals, chlorinated solvents, plasticizers, persistent organic pollutants, plastics and gases used to manufacture electronic goods and their apparatus such as capacitors, semiconductor chips, batteries, circuit boards, and disk drives. These chemicals and substances have adverse impact on health and local as well as international environment; and are considered one of the factors responsible for climate change.
According to ABI Research, 53 million tons of electronic wastes were produced across the world in the colander year 2009, out of which only about 13% was recycled. The Electronics Take Back Coalition (ETBC) reveals that up to 20 million PCs are thrown away every year in the U.S. Burgeoning electronic waste has bubbled up in the public conscious and become a concerning issue worldwide.
The ddministrator of Environment protection Agency, Lisa Jacks has shown the concern on the persistent surge of electronic waste and explained, “EPA recognizes this urgent concern and will work with international partners to address the issues of e-waste. In the near-term, EPA will focus on ways to improve the design, production, handling, reuse, recycling, exporting and disposal of electronics.”
It requires a united effort to
1.Stop contamination and improve air quality and make it worth inhaling.
2.Stop climate change and global warming
3.Provide clean and fresh water
4.Protect environment from exposure of toxic elements
5.Make a beautiful world by refreshing the environment.
It is very important to maximize the recycling process in order to minimize the impact of dangerous substances on environment and health. It is the responsibility of us all to find responsible recyclers and contribute our part in preventing the environmental damages.

Throwing it into the dustbin is not the proper disposal of an electronic equipment which has attained obsolescence as per your judgement. It may end up adding to e-waste, which creates problems for the ecology in general and directly or indirectly for the living beings around there through air, water and soil pollution

E-Waste Surging in Developing Countries
According to the news of sciencedaily.com, by the year of 1020 electronic waste from old computers will be doubled from 200 to 400 percent in South Africa and China and will increase by 500 percent in India.
