We all have different hobbies and interests.  Some like outdoor adventures and some like the indoor variety.  There are many people who enjoy gardening as a hobby.  For the person who has the right tools and equipment, one can enhance their home and be the envy of their neighbors.

Planting your favorite vegetable or plant is a very satisfying experience.  It does take time to watch a garden grow and you have to consistently keep an eye on it to truly enjoy it.

An excellent place to do this is within a greenhouse.  Not only will this protect your plants you will avoid really exposing yourself to the sun and risk sunburn.  A greenhouse is an enclosed structure that allows you to grow your plants in an enclosed environment.

The panels of a greenhouse are usually made of either glass or plastic.  A greenhouse can be a simple as a window in your kitchen up to big commercial green houses that sale their plants and vegetables for profit.

The size of a greenhouse depends on the amount of time you have to devote to it and the size of the area you want to set one up in.

The best greenhouse if you have the room in your yard is a free standing version.  If you don’t have much space in your yard, then attaching one to your house may be the best option.

Check with the city before constructing a greenhouse to be sure it is in compliance with the building codes in the neighborhood.

Depending on what part of the country you are in, the location is of upmost importance since the climate may change all year round.  Summer time can get very hot in some areas so it is best to set it up near a tree.  It can get rainy and muddy in certain areas, so the greenhouse should be set up above ground. because too much water can kill the plants.

Fruits and vegetables are ideal to grow within a greenhouse since they can be planted and harvested throughout the year.

To ensure that the plants or vegetables get the proper nutrients and water, an automatic timer can be used or it can be done manually.

Another option for use in a greenhouse is growing without soil.  This is know as hydroponic gardening.  Plants consume nutrients in liquid form so these nutrients can be mixed in with the water supply.

A greenhouse also needs plenty of sunlight.  If there is not sufficient sunlight in the area, strong lamps can provide the necessary artificial sunlight needed at the right temperature during the evening and when it rains.

If one cannot find the right greenhouse for their home, there are numerous companies that make greenhouses.  Get together with a contractor and measure out the area and get estimates before you begin.

If you’re on a budget, search around for second hand materials.  After you have the necessary equipment, put your plan on paper and get started.

Greenhouse gardening as a hobby can be a lot of fun.  It’s like your own little sanctuary.  Instead of worrying about the weather or pests you can watch your garden flourish and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Do your reesearch before deciding which greenhouse you would like to build.  Check with a local garden shop or do some checking on the web.

Greenhouse gardening as a hobby can even turn into a business.  Since the fruits and vegetable are grown in a controlled environment that makes it possible to harvest year round, one can sell to the local groceries and supermarkets.

Think about all these things before diving in and just purchasing a kit or building a greenhouse from scratch.  Greenhouse gardening as a hobby can be a lot of fun with the right preparation and planning.

Have fun,
