Green gardening guide – part one

In the UK, we each spend an average £200 each year on our gardens. That’s a whole lotta cash that could be used to make our green spaces green in the eco-friendly sense – by growing plants to organic standards, using compost instead of chemical fertiliser and deploying natural pest controls instead of going crazy with pesticides. To learn the how, we took a trip to Garden Organic Ryton to meet environmentalist, writer, CAT staffer and organic gardener, Allan Shepherd. This is part one of a two part series.
