Every one is well aware of the raising environmental hazard. The pollution has created so much damage not only to the nature but to every living being. Industries play a major role in the destruction of the environment but another culprit that shares the crime is the growing number of vehicles on the road. The Indian car industry is overcrowded with so many cars and with the increasing competition the car manufacturers are introducing more new cars in India.

It is the conventional fuel that adds up more to the pollution and now with the growing concern about nature, the car manufacturers are now rolling out latest cars with alternative fuel option. There the list if new cars in India are growing which also includes eco-friendly cars. In abroad there is large number of environment friendly cars. The people there are much concerned compared to India.

Though for India there many car manufacturers are working on green cars that we are yet to experience, but in the international markets there is a long list of green cars awaiting their launch. We don’t know if they will hit the Indian shores but a ray of hope is always there.

The list is really long but here are the top five green cars that are expected in 2009. Though there is no confirm information about their launch but as aforesaid they are speculated to hit the car industry.

2009 BMW 335d

The powerful three letters in luxury car segment is not behind in the latest innovations. The top in its list of green cars is a sports sedan powered by a 3.0-liter diesel engine. The luxury sedan is loaded with a power with out negotiating with the performance. Coming to its green part, it gets a city and highway of 22 and 33 mileage respectively.  While its not’s earth-shattering, the impressive use of diesel with no sacrifice in features gets plenty of thumbs up.

Ford Fusion Hybrid

It offers supreme fuel economy among mid-sized sedans; the Ford Fusion Hybrid revised the manufacturer’s old hybrid system. With an average of 38 mpg, this gasoline turned electric hybrid is pretty sure to make its debut in 2009 and is expected to be the big hit of the year.  Drivers can run the Fusion Hybrid at up to 47 mph on pure electric power.

Saturn Vue 2 Mode Hybrid

Vue 2 Mode is yet another green car from Saturn. Along with its beautiful looks, it also spacious that perfectly matches the family use. The Vue 2 Mode uses General Motors’s latest two-mode technology.  The compact SUV not only offers great value but is also a performer that will win many hearts.

Smart Fortwo

After impressing the European market, the Smart Fortwo is making its self ready to the markets of U.S. With an affordable price tag, the car is an ultra-compact two-seater can be for city drives with its trendy looks.

VW Jetta TDI

Compared to the above cars models, the Indians are very familiar with this model. Volkswagen Jetta already shines on the Indian roads with its lively performance and stylish features. But this model falls in the green car segment. VW’s diesel-powered sedan includes the best in the company’s diesel technology resulting in maximum economy.  It clears all the emissions certifications required in all 50 states.

Hope we get to see more green cars too make good sales along with the new car sales in India.
