Plastic Recycling And Its Advantages

Environment degradation today is not only a buzzword but a reality today. Human made waste is today threatening to change the way the environment reacts and intends to change the very atmosphere that they live in. In such a situation, recycling is one of the best answers to the pollution that humanity causes in the environment. Almost anything that we use can be recycled, including plastic. The popularity of plastic was so immediate that human beings were simply not ready to accept the huge surplus of Plastic users that came up within the decade.

Plastic recycling is one of the most important activities that can be carried out to decrease the amount of pollution in the environment. Plastic has become part and parcel of our lives, with more than seven percent of the total waste in the US being plastic.

Plastic recycling is a more difficult and longer process than recycling the other objects, like say paper or cloth. This is because plastic has a different molecular structure than these objects, and therefore undergoes a different process when it is being recycled. Because plastic has a difficult and longer process, it stays in the environment longer than any other material or object, thereby adding to the environmental waste.

Also, plastic recycling becomes more difficult because of the various dyes and filters that it has. This makes the entire process of recycling plastic much difficult than recycling other objects and materials. It is only recently that bio degradable plastic bottles have arrived on the scene, making the use of plastic at least not as much dangerous as it was around a decade or two ago. In some countries, the government has put the onus on manufacturers, users and institutions like schools and companies to recycle plastic.

One of the biggest culprits in plastic recycling is the plastic bag. Plastic bags are today the most widely used commodity to carry objects to and fro. Because of its immense usage, their existence increases, and they normally end up in the landfill for recycling. However, the problem is that the plastic bags are so light that they normally end up flying away from the dumping ground and do not end up being recycled. It is also possible that plastic bags can cause problems to the sorting machines used by the recycler. Therefore, more often than not, the recycler does not take them to the recycling ground, and it just ends up in the dumping ground.
