If you have an old mobile phone, the chances are you will one day want to part with it. It may or may not have already crossed your mind what to do with it. Toss it in the back of an old dusty drawer and just forget about it. But one day you will want to do something with it. I don’t know of many people that keep mobile phones because of their sentimental value. There will come a time when even that old mobile you haven’t used in more than 5 years will have to put somewhere other than your drawer. But what do you do with it?

You may not be aware but new government legislation states it illegal and an actual arrestable offence to dispose of mobile phones or electronic devices with household rubbish. You have to recycle them in an environmentally friendly way by using a recycling initiative of sort. And with so many of these mobile / recycling organisations running there are no excuses for not doing so. But what and how exactly do you dispose of or recycle mobiles and their electronic counterparts?

If you have an old mobile phone, there are many things you can do with it depending on what you want to do. Of course some old mobiles can be resold on again. On auction sites such as eBay etc. Or keep it as a backup or sell it to a needy friend. The other option is to donate it to a charity of some sort where they will recycle them and use the funds earned from them for the charity or cause they support.

You could also recycle your mobile phone by using one of the many Mobile Phone Recycling mobile phone recycling sites online that will buy new, old, working or even broken mobile phones for cash. You can get cash for your old mobile phone by selling and recycling it to a mobile phone recycling site. There are many around to choose from if you search online. Or you may know of one already from a TV advert you have seen. All you need to do is search for your make and model of mobile online and a price is given to you for it. You then send in the mobile and get cash for it days later. By doing this you will be doing your part in helping the environment.

Mobile phones like most electronic devices contain metals and materials that can be harmful to the environment if these end up in landfill sites. Such precious metals as Gold, Silver, Lead, Mercury and more. Even though landfill sites are scientifically treated to contain such leakages these harmful materials can still escape and have a detrimental effect on plant and wildlife. Our food and water supplies. And damage delicate ecological systems. Just one mobile phone battery contains enough Mercury to pollute over 600,000 tons of water. And that’s just mobile phones.

There are many electronic devices that are not recycled properly and these end up in landfill sites where the said is happening and will happen over time. Unfortunately the true number is not calculable as these things often just end up thrown out with the household rubbish. But thanks to the rise of mobile phone recycling sites and sites that allow you to recycle many different things for cash. More awareness is being raised. More items are being recycled and less are ending up in our landfill sites.

And it’s not just mobile phones that this legislation is in place for and not just mobiles that you can recycle. There are a whole myriad of different sites for you to use to recycle many different things. All of which normally pay cash for them as well. So it means you literally get paid to recycle.

You can recycle mobile phones, iPhones, iPods, Games and Games Consoles. MP3 Players and Sat/NAV’s. CD’s and DVD’s. Meaning old music and movies. Inkjet Cartridges and many other things that can be recycled for cash. So never before was there more incentive to recycle. People up and down the country, the old and young alike are enjoying the benefits of recycle the old things they no longer need or use. Clearing out clutter and freeing up space in their homes and getting cash for things they might have otherwise thrown away.

So surely with the rise of these recycling sites. With the awareness raised by them and the TV advertising online promotional campaigns they run a difference will be made. Less damage to the environment will be caused and people will be better off overall. So think of this before you go to throw away that old mobile or toaster. Those old CD’s or Games you no longer play.
