Countless parents have use glass baby bottles for the reason that they think it is the best and the only one that they should use. This thinking is not entirely wrong, the facts that glass bottles do not leach chemical compounds like BPA, which is a hormone disruptor, they also very dish washer safe and easy to clean. Glass baby bottles also can keep the milk stored inside warm longer because glass retains heat longer than the plastic bottles. Glass is a natural entity, environmental friendly, renewable and recyclable, unlike plastic which is derived from petroleum. But glass baby bottles are not entirely flawless, there are also some cons related with the use of these bottles. The fact that glass is heavier than plastic is the reason why there are also so many parents using plastic baby bottles. One glass bottles weight can be ignored, but having six glass baby bottles put in your baby bag can be a huge different. And naturally glass baby bottles are more expensive in comparison to the plastic baby bottles. The price difference between glass and plastic can be roughly twice.

Other main problem is that glass baby bottles are also more easily to break compare to the plastic baby bottles. Also something to keep in mind is that if the bottle has a crack or a chip, small shards of glass could find its way into the baby’s food.

There is other reason why parents prefer to use glass baby bottles compared to using plastic bottles. In the past, BPA has been found in the baby’s milk and formula. This chemical can cause  health danger. Additional study then showing, that the plastic baby bottles that are made from Polycarbonate and Polyethylene plastic can leach Bisphenol A (BPA) and phthalates. BPA is harmful to children, it can disrupts normal physical, hormone performance, alters genes and cause behavioral progress and expansion.

Many parents for worry that the BPA will affect their child’s growth have decided to switch back to glass baby bottles. They do this as precaution. But nowadays you will rarely find this type of plastic bottle again. Almost every plastic baby bottles in the market now have ‘BPA free’ mark.

But still glass baby bottles have made a comeback. Beside to ensure their baby gets the best quality product, there are also more parents investing in these products because of their conscious for friendly environmental product.
